Privacy Policy for Meshmerize

Last Updated: October 23, 2026

Overview

Meshmerize (“the App”) is an application for designing needlepoint patterns on iPhone, iPad and Mac. This privacy policy explains how the App handles your information.

Data Collection

We do not collect any personal data.

The App has no account system, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. We run no servers that receive your data. The only time anything is sent to us is when you tap Submit on a stitch, as described under Submitted Stitches below.

Your Patterns and Thread Stash

Your patterns, thread stash, stitches and settings are stored on your device. If you are signed in to iCloud, the App syncs your patterns, stash and stitches between your devices through your private iCloud database, which only your Apple Account can access. We cannot see this data. Apple's privacy policy governs how iCloud stores it.

Location, Shops and Shared Links

The Shops map asks for location permission (When In Use) only to show needlepoint shops near you. Your location is used on your device and is not sent to us.

Check-ins, notes, photos, Want to Visit, and the trips you save are stored on your device and synced only through your private iCloud database. The shop directory is downloaded from Apple's iCloud public database, and nothing about you is sent when it downloads.

When you share a badge, passport, or trip, the details you chose to share (such as your name, the shops, and dates) are written into the link itself. The getmeshmerize.com page reads them in the recipient's browser without storing them on a server.

Photos and Camera

When you import a photo or take one with the camera, the App reads that image on your device to build a pattern. The image is never uploaded anywhere. The App only accesses the photos you choose.

If you save an exported image to your photo library, the App asks for permission to add it. It does not read your library to do so.

Sharing and Export

PDF charts, stitch guides, images and pattern files are created on your device. They leave it only when you send them somewhere yourself through the share sheet.

Submitted Stitches

You can draw a stitch or add one from a photo, and keep it in My Stitches. Nothing is sent to us unless you tap Submit on that stitch.

When you tap Submit, the App sends the stitch name, where you found it, your notes, the drawing, an optional photo of a worked sample, and the App version. It is stored in the App's CloudKit public database in Apple's iCloud. The App never shows submissions to other people; we read them to review them. We ask for no account or email address beyond your iCloud sign-in.

In Identify, after you pick the right stitch under Not right?, you can tap Send to Meshmerize. That sends the photo you framed, the stitch you picked, the App's suggestions and the App version, stored the same way. Identify itself runs on your device and sends nothing unless you tap Send.

If we approve a stitch, we may add it to the App for everyone. We may also use submitted photos to improve how the App identifies stitches. We collect nothing else. Apple attaches an identifier to each submission that is unique to this App and does not tell us your name or email address.

Purchases

Meshmerize Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple handles payment, and the App only checks with Apple whether your Apple Account owns Pro. We never see your payment details. Manage or cancel subscriptions in Settings under your Apple Account.

Children's Privacy

The App does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
